The short answer
An open seam usually means the original seam materials, preparation, or underlying surface failed — not that the turf itself is bad. Seams join two rolls of turf with tape and adhesive, and they hold only when the backing is sound, the cut is clean, the surface beneath is flat, and the adhesive is applied and cured correctly.
A durable repair requires access to sound backing, removal of the failed material, correction of any ridge or depression under the seam, new seam materials and proper curing. Simply squeezing adhesive into a gap often fails again because the cause was never addressed.
