Accessibility does not stop when the playground is installed. Texas Accessibility Standards require playground ground surfaces on applicable accessible routes, clear spaces and turning spaces to comply with ASTM F1951, and expressly state these surfaces must be inspected and maintained regularly and frequently to maintain continued compliance. Use-zone surfaces are separately tied to F1292.
Conditions such as separated seams, lifted turf edges, rubber tile lips, deteriorated transitions, settlement and damaged accessible routes can become accessibility issues even if the original system was designed correctly.
